Kurt G. W. Ludecke, an early supporter of Hiter and the Nazi regime, describes Hitler’s ability to captivate his audience in his speeches:
- · An excited, exectant crowd was filling the beautiful square in Koenigsplatz to the last inch and overflowing into the surrounding streets to listen to Hitler
- · When Hitler stepped up to the stage, there was no applause, but as he began speaking, his voice brought about a sort of shrieking that aroused the crowd
- · Hitler urged the revival of German honor and manhood with a blast of words that seemed to cleanse
- · He brought his voice to exulting climaxes as he finished his speech with hate against those leaders currently in power, whom he claimed made Germany weak, and a pledge of undying love for the Fatherland
- · He criticized the parts of the Berlin government that many were afraid to say
- · Ludecke says that when Hitler spoke of the disgrace of Germany, he felt compelled to spring on any enemy
- · After the speech, when all left the square, Ludecke says that he and many others knew they had found their leader and their cause
